Hudson Valley Ferret Rescue of NJ is a not-for-profit rescue run by mother (Lorri) and daughter (Karen). We work to find loving, responsible homes for our sweet little fuzzies! We make sure that each ferret is healthy and up-to-date on vaccinations.

We are registered with the State of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Division of Fish & Wildlife and have the proper permit (# PS 2012208) to do ferret adoptions. We are also a member of American Ferret Association (AFA), Support Our Shelters (S.O.S.), and MetroFerret.

Scales and Tails Rescue was founded in 2003, in northern New Jersey. It was originally an exotic pet rescue – a combination of reptiles and ferrets. We no longer have facilities to take in reptiles, so reptile work now consists of listing animals on PetFinder, processing applications, and then passing along good applicants to the animal’s current owner.

Our primary focus is now ferrets. We generally find forever homes for 30 to 40 ferrets per year, and usually have around 40 ferrets in our care. We list our animals on PetFinder, and do numerous meet ‘n greets in the area.

The rescue is located in a private home and is accessible by appointment only – every day of the week, evenings and weekends can usually be accommodated.
